Department
Enrollment Committee
Administration of tribal citizenship under the California Valley Miwok Tribe Constitution.
Mission
Sovereignty includes the inherent right of every tribal nation to define its own citizenship. The Enrollment Committee administers that authority for the California Valley Miwok Tribe in accordance with the tribe's constitution, adopted in October 2024. The committee receives and processes enrollment applications, maintains the tribal roll, and reports membership matters to the Tribal Council.
Key Responsibilities
- Application processing. Receive, review, and act upon enrollment applications under the criteria established by the CVMT Constitution.
- Roll maintenance. Maintain accurate, current records of the tribal citizenship roll and citizens' contact information.
- Document verification. Coordinate verification of genealogical and ancestral documentation in support of applications, while protecting the privacy of citizen records.
- Reporting. Report enrollment matters and present recommendations to the Tribal Council as required by the Constitution.
- Records of changes. Process citizen-submitted updates to enrollment records — address, name, family additions, and so on.
