Supporting the educational advancement of California Valley Miwok citizens at every stage of learning.

Vision

The Education Committee coordinates educational opportunities for Tribal members and their families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Information & referral. Provide tribal citizens with current information on educational benefits, federal Indian education programs, and outside scholarship resources for which they may qualify.
  • School coordination. Serve as a point of contact between tribal citizens, the tribe, and local school districts, Indian Education programs (Title VI), and post-secondary institutions.
  • Native American Heritage Month. Support culturally accurate education about California Native peoples in schools serving tribal children and the broader public.
  • Citizen advocacy. Advocate for the educational interests of CVMT citizens in matters before educational agencies and policymakers.
  • Boys and Girls Club of the California Valley Miwok Tribe. Provides opportunities for language classes and educational workshops.
