Financial Committee

Fiscal oversight, transparency, and stewardship of the tribe's resources on behalf of its citizens.

Mission

The Financial Committee provides fiscal oversight for the operations of the California Valley Miwok Tribe — its budgets, audits, federal grant administration, and reporting to citizens and the Tribal Council. The committee's work supports the duty of every elected and appointed tribal officer to manage tribal resources prudently, lawfully, and in service of the long-term wellbeing of the tribe.

Key Responsibilities

  • Budget review. Review and recommend annual and program budgets for the Tribal Council's adoption.
  • Financial reporting. Monitor expenditures against approved budgets and produce financial reports for the Council and citizenry.
  • Audit oversight. Coordinate the tribe's annual independent audit and respond to any findings or management recommendations.
  • Federal program funds. Provide fiscal oversight for federal program funding administered by the tribe, including reporting and compliance with applicable federal requirements.
  • Internal controls. Review and recommend updates to the tribe's financial policies and internal controls.
